LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Our unsettled pattern continues to start the work week as we see scattered showers and storms once again developing through the afternoon.

Before the cooling showers and storms comes the heat though, as we’ll see sunshine quickly helping us to climb into the middle and upper 90s.

Heat index values will also be a concern for most areas as we feel more like 106-108° at times, so make sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks if you plan on being outdoors.

Showers and storms look to develop through the afternoon and evening hours, much like the last few afternoons.

Heavy rain and frequent lightning will be the biggest concerns with any storms that do develop and the best chance for more widespread coverage comes before sunset.
