The City Council will vote Wednesday on whether to fund what can fairly be described as one of the most ambitious plans to address homelessness in the city’s history.

The $6 million Safe Move Tulsa Rehousing Initiative calls for housing 300 individuals or families within the next nine months. The goal is to house 100 to 150 unsheltered individuals or families and 150 to 200 individuals or families who are currently in shelters.

Once housed, participants will receive rental assistance as needed and support services with the goal of being able to maintain their own rent payments within 12 months.
