HULL, Ill. (WGEM) - It’s a good thing this year’s race started relatively early.

Lori Riti fired her starter’s pistol at 8 a.m. sharp and off they went with the sun at their backs.

Runners, walkers, strollers ... and even a few hearty canines.

The 2025 Hull of a Race in and around the streets of this Pike County town of about 400 residents heated up quickly. Almost 250 participants turned out for the event and didn’t slow down until the final finisher crossed under the banner just near Main and Elm Streets.

They came from throughout the Tri-States and as far away as Magnolia, Texas, and Parker, Colorado, to soldier through the stifling humidity and searing sun.

Race time temperature hovered around the 80-degree mark.
