How to keep you power bill down as hot temperatures continue

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As the heat continues to soar in Georgia, so are some people’s electric bills.

Georgia Power bills are high right now for a few reasons, including rate increases, seasonal energy use, infrastructure developments and economic factors like inflation.

While those prices may seem beyond our control, there are still ways to save money.

When you’re not home, turn off lights and keep curtains closed.

Make sure your windows and doors are sealed tightly. You can use caulk and weather-stripping to prevent air leaks.

Also, save by washing full loads of close in cold water and clean your lint trap to increase dryer efficiency.

For similar large appliances, try using them before 2 p.m. And after 7. Doing so can keep the temperature inside your home cooler.
