Terence Stamp admirers were stunned by news of his death on August 17, following heartfelt tributes from the celebrated actor's relatives.

"He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and a writer that will continue to touch people for years to come," they said. Stamp secured two Bafta nominations in 1963 and 1995, and subsequently claimed a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer in Billy Budd.

The performer earned multiple award nominations for his portrayal in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. In the production, released in 1994, he portrayed Bernadette Bassenger - a former drag queen and transgender woman.
