A TV period drama that has been compared to the works of Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is streaming now, following hot on the heels of another hailed “sublime and wonderful” and one compared to Jane Austen .
The mini-series came out 20 years ago on the BBC and captivated audiences when it was first broadcast in 2005.
