SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -Ten-year-old Maddi Hodge of Sioux City was crowned a sprouts champion at the Iowa State Fair’s Bill Riley Talent Search over the weekend.
Maddi is a fourth grader at Bishop Heelan’s Dual Language Academy, according to Michelle Linden, her grandmother.
She was a vocal soloist during the competition, where she sang the song “Popular” from the musical “Wicked.”
Maddi won the Sprouts division of the talent search at the Woodbury County Fair, advancing into the preliminary and semifinal rounds.
The Sprouts Division is made up of participants aged 2 to 12 years old.
According to the Iowa State Fair website, there are nearly 100 local qualifying competitions held across the state. Winners of these competitions then perform at the Iowa State Fair, where there are seven da
