COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KCRG) - Democratic Iowa State Rep. J.D. Scholten is suspending his U.S. Senate campaign and will endorse Iowa State Rep. Josh Turek.

According to Turek’s campaign, Scholten will join Turek Monday in Council Bluffs to make the announcement official.

“There are so many issues facing Iowans today but we can’t sit idly by while healthcare is ripped from millions of Americans,” Scholten said. “Understanding this, I believe that there’s no better Democrat in Iowa to talk about healthcare issues than my friend, State Rep.
