There will be a three-way race to fill a vacant seat on the Danville School Board this November, and two people are vying for Pittsylvania County treasurer.

The deadline for candidates to submit paperwork for both special elections was Friday afternoon.

In Danville, the seat will fill the term of Keith Silverman, who died on June 23. Silverman resigned from his position on the school board the week prior to his death.

Three candidates — Gary Terry, Trina McLaughlin and Curtis Gore — will be on the November ballot, Danville Registrar Peggy Petty confirmed to the Register & Bee on Friday.
