NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) - At 81 years old, Judy Benjamin is walking across America to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and promote healthy aging. Her 3,000-mile journey began in San Diego, California, and will end in St. Augustine, Florida, taking her through towns and highways across the United States.

KBTX caught up with Benjamin along Highway 105 between Navasota and Brenham on Sunday as she made her way toward Florida. She said her motivation comes from both personal experience and a desire to help others.

Benjamin, PhD, a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, began her walk across the country back in April, following the Adventure Cycling Association Southern Tier route.
