Seattle Mariners outfielder Víctor Robles was ejected in Sunday’s Triple-A game between the Tacoma Rainiers and Las Vegas Aviators after throwing his bat at pitcher Joey Estes in a heated and stunning scene.
Víctor Robles, who hasn’t played for the Mariners since April 6 because of a shoulder injury, was sent to the Rainiers for a rehab assignment. Instead of a strong showing at the plate to show surging Mariners he’s ready to return, however, Robles made headlines in a less flattering way.
In the top half of the third inning, Estes nearly hit Robles with a 90 MPH pitch inside. A furious Robles grabbed the bat and threw it in the direction of the Estes, leading to an immediate ejection:
