Carolyn Acker has been selected as the 21st Judicial District’s newest magistrate, replacing the retiring Kevin Kennedy.
According to an email from Chief Judge Brian Flynn, the interview committee included district court judges, county court judges, a magistrate, the court’s chief executive, the district court supervisor and Flynn himself.
Acker has a bachelor’s degree in religion and biology from Denison University in Ohio, a master’s degree in education for science teachers from Pace University in New York City, and a juris doctorate from the University of Denver.
According to Flynn’s email, Acker has worked as a science teacher, and as an attorney has practiced as a respondent parent attorney, divorce attorney, counsel for youth and guardian ad litem.
