CANAAN, N.H. —

The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office is investigating a suspicious death in Canaan.

William Colao, 67, was found dead in his home on Sawyer Hill Road at around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

According to officials, Colao appeared to have suffered a stab wound.

Police had originally responded to the home to check on Colao's welfare, investigators said.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place later on Monday.

Officials with the attorney general's office said they believe there is no known threat to the public, but they did not give any information to indicate why they believe that.
