TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified the victim in a deadly hit-and-run they say happened early Monday morning, Aug. 18, 2025.
After a 911 call from a passerby, police were sent to investigate in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Westlawn Middle School around 1:15 a.m.
When police arrived, they found 37-year-old Britany Nicole Sims in the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say Sims was struck by a vehicle. They said the driver left the scene after the incident.
After investigating, police said the driver has been identified. Authorities will present their case to a grand jury to determine if any charges will be filed against the driver.
