CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) - Back in May, WALB spoke with a South Georgia couple who had the goal of taking underprivileged children on a beach vacation. But first, they needed the community’s support.

This summer, thanks to volunteers and donations, Vanessa and Robert Williams were able to take over 30 kids to Panama City Beach.

Vanessa is a Mitchell County educator, and she noticed there were several children who had never been on a vacation, let alone left the city of Camilla.

She and her husband, Robert, teamed up with the community to take as many kids as possible on a day trip to Florida. The mini vacation included meals, a day at the beach, and game play at Dave and Busters.
