Friends of Cyrus in Medford

A fire broke out at a facility for adults with disabilities in Medford early Monday morning, Aug. 18, authorities said.

At 2:16 a.m., Medford police responded to 175 Tuckerton Rd. which houses the Friends of Cyrus Adult Day Services, which provides support for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, Medford police said.

Upon arrival, officers noticed smoke coming from the back of the building, police said. The Medford Township Department of Fire arrived on scene and extinguished the fire with assistance from numerous fire departments, police said.

The building was vacant during the incident, police said. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Medford Township Fire Marshal and the Criminal Investigative Bureau of the Medford Township Police Department, officers said.
