NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Newton Falls School Board member and former zoning director Mark Stimpert is suing the City of Newton Falls for alleged malicious prosecution.
The suit was filed in the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Friday, April 15, and accuses the city of charging him for a crime he did not commit.
The city, as well as former city manager Pamela Priddy, Newton Falls Mayor John Baryak, Niles Law Director Philip Zuzulo and Devon Stanley as defendants.
According to the suit, Stimpert was charged with a misdemeanor assault charge in August of 2023. A jury found him not guilty of this charge during a trial held almost a year after the charge was filed.
