The Camino de la Plaza exit, the last U.S. exit before entering Mexico, was closed overnight for pipe installation as part of infrastructure improvements, but has since reopened as of 6 a.m. Monday, the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans said.
Signs were posted ahead of the closure to alert motorists. Those who did not wish to cross the San Ysidro Port of Entry into Mexico were able to detour at Via de San Ysidro.
The work schedule was subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents and other maintenance considerations.
