A bizarre video has circulated online showing a woman battling her way up an escalator going in the opposite direction.

Posted to TikTok on Sunday August 17, the clip has gained over 381,000 views, and appears to show a female peculiarly travelling the wrong way up the moving stairs in a gruelling two minute duel at Waverley Station.

Onlookers are in disbelief as the incident unfolded, as a man with a west cost accent puzzled by what he is witnessing, filmed the event.

Those coming down the escalator seem undisturbed by the woman's antics and despite her slow start, she begins to gain traction as she approaches the one minute mark.

But all of a sudden as she is about to reach the summit, she take a trip and dragged backdown the stairs before she is assisted to her feet by a kind passe
