BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- On July 1, NYSEG filed its proposal for its “Powering New York” plan with the Department of Public Services. The multi-billion-dollar billion-dollar plan focuses on rebuilding and expanding the state’s aging power grid.

The plan will be in part subsidized by a possible ten percent increase on roughly thirty-five percent of your NYSEG bill that the company directly controls.

Per New York regulations, NYSEG has to file for a one-year proposal. Afterwards, the company will enter an eleven-month discussion period where NYSEG CEO Patricia Nilsen hopes to extend the project to minimize the cost to customers by stretching it out over a longer period.
