LIVONIA, La. (WAFB) - A large fight broke out Monday morning at Livonia High School, sending at least one student to the hospital, the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Deputies are currently on scene investigating, and the nature of the student’s injuries is unknown at this time.

A video sent to WAFB shows nearly a dozen students involved in a brawl as staff tried to intervene. Onlookers are heard screaming, “beat him up.”

Parents of students there received an automated message that reads, “We had an incident on campus this morning. All students are safe in classrooms and those who were involved are safe with staff.”

Pointe Coupee Parish School Board released the following statement about the incident:
