For decades, beaches used to be a place to sit and relax with nothing more than the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.

Beachgoers would pack light: a chair or blanket/towel, a drink and maybe a backpack.

But times have changed since COVID-19 protocols were lifted.

Now, a trip to the beach for some includes a massive tent that can cost as much as $200, carts to pull their stuff and huge bluetooth speakers. Some people have even added plastic fences to mark their section of the beach.

The issue of oversized tents on beaches has gotten so bad that some towns, including Asbury Park and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, have banned them all together. Ocean City allows tents that are no bigger than 10 feet by 10 feet, but that has not stopped people from putting multiple t
