Harrowing pictures have shown the grim aftermath of a fire that broke out on Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh . ‌

Fire crews are still working to "fully extinguish" the massive gorse fire that broke out over a week ago. ‌

Firefighters were first sent to the scene at around 4.10pm on Sunday, August 10, after they were alerted to a blaze affecting a large area which saw locals and tourists fleeing down the hill. ‌

Some eight days later, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) still have two appliances in attendance.

Images, which were shared with Edinburgh Live , showed the shocking damage left by the blaze with charred ground and burned out bushes left in the wake of the fire.
