The BBC is facing calls to pull Sally Rooney dramas from its iPlayer after the author vowed to use her royalties to fund the proscribed terror organisation Palestine Action .

Former UK anti-extremism tsar Lord Walney told The i Paper that the broadcaster would have to “break ties” with Rooney and remove adaptations of her novels if she were to finance the banned group .

The Jewish Leaders Council and Campaign Against Anti-Semitism urged the BBC to review their relationship with the writer over her pledge to “use the proceeds” of her work to finance Palestine Action.

Rooney’s publisher Faber & Faber and Netflix – which currently shows one of her BBC dramas – were also warned they may have to cut ties with the author and her work if she was ever found to have given money to a pro
