‘“I had just turned 21. I was in the backyard doing manual labor, and all of a sudden, I just hit the ground. No reason, no warning no nothing,” Dante Colorito told a crowd on Sunday, recalling the cardiac arrest that nearly killed him in 2021.
Mr. Colorito, 25, of Adams Township was one of several survivors who gathered at Renziehausen Park in McKeesport to celebrate the unveiling of the eighth automated external defibrillator (AED) installed in a public park in the Greater Pittsburgh region. The initiative, led by The Aliver Foundation — a New Jersey-based nonprofit — is being carried out in partnership with Allegheny County officials, emergency medical service crews and local family partners.
