A Texas man was shot and killed moments after he spoke to his girlfriend on FaceTime — and she may have heard him chatting with his alleged killer.

The Houston Police Department told local CBS affiliate KHOU that an unnamed man in his 20s was fatally shot at around 9 p.m. on Saturday. According to police, he was talking to his girlfriend on the phone while waiting for a bus near the corner of East 34th Street and North Main Street, in an area known as Independence Heights in Houston.

The couple had been speaking on FaceTime when an unknown man approached the alleged victim and had what the girlfriend described as a friendly conversation, according to police. But then, the alleged victim took off running and the phone went silent.
