ST. PAUL — Minnesota Rep. Cedrick Frazier, a Democrat from New Hope, on Monday, Aug. 18, announced his campaign for Hennepin County attorney.

In a Monday morning press release, Frazier confirmed his intention to run for the seat following current Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s announcement on Aug. 6 that she won’t seek re-election in 2026. Frazier enters the race with an endorsement from Attorney General Keith Ellison, according to his campaign.

“From the Capitol to the courtrooms — we need leadership with proximity to the issues impacting our communities — leadership that will bring a perspective backed by lived experience,” Frazier said. “In this moment, we need a leader who understands that public safety starts with public trust, and leadership starts with listening.”
