CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The suspect accused of fatally shooting a man last week in Cleveland’s West Boulevard neighborhood appeared in court Monday for the first time since the murder.

Cleveland police say Sterling Pettway, 49, shot and killed Deonte Alexander, 38, on Aug. 13 in the area of West 73rd Street and Clark Avenue.

Pettway, who was shot by police during the incident, is charged with murder and assaulting a police officer.

During his arraignment, the judge continued a $3 million bond for Pettway, whose case is now headed to the grand jury.
