WASHINGTON (NewsNation) — The Trump administration's federal takeover of the Washington police force has entered its second week.

National Guard troops deployed to D.C. amid President Donald Trump's crime crackdown could soon be armed.

More troops are coming later this week to aid in Trump's efforts. The Republican governors of Ohio, West Virginia and South Carolina announced they would be sending troops.

West Virginia will deploy 350 National Guard troops to D.C., Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said 150 troops from his state will arrive in the coming days, and South Carolina is sending 200 troops. There are currently 800 troops deployed in the area.
