SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - Last week, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to Gov. Tina Kotek warning that Oregon has been designated a “sanctuary jurisdiction” under a Trump administration executive order and could face federal consequences if it does not change course. Now, the governor is responding.

The letter accuses Oregon of obstructing federal immigration enforcement and giving cover to undocumented immigrants who commit crimes. Bondi said the Justice Department working with the Department of Homeland Security will identify jurisdictions, like Oregon, that violate federal law and consider restricting grants, contracts, and other federal funds.
