One person is dead following a crash on I-94 in Chikaming Township early Monday.

The Chikaming Township Police Department says one of its officers was dispatched to westbound I-94 near mile marker eight around 1:05 a.m. on a report of a crash. He arrived to find a vehicle that had left the road on the north side and crashed into some trees. The passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the condition of the driver has not been released.

The identity of the driver and the passenger have yet to be released, and the crash remains under investigation.
