TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Cruise ships scheduled to visit Bermuda this week had to be rerouted due to Hurricane Erin.
NBC affiliate WESH reported that Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas pulled into Port Canaveral on Sunday morning.
The ship departed from Maryland and was originally scheduled to visit Bermuda. However, Royal Caribbean changed the ship's course due to the hurricane churning in the Atlantic.
“We’d rather be safe. It is disappointing because we wanted to be in Bermuda. But I see the hurricane is heading right there,” passenger Sherry Teycer told WESH.
WAVY, WFLA's sister station in Norfolk, reported that Carnival Cruise Line also had to adjust the itinerary for the Carnival Sunshine to avoid the storm.
The ship was scheduled to depart from Norfolk on Sunday to embark on a si
