San Francisco’s Transgender District launched a new emergency fund on Monday dedicated to bolstering organizations and initiatives within the community amid growing financial uncertainty and budget cuts from multiple levels of government.

The Transgender District announced Monday the creation of the Riot Fund, which officials said aims to raise $100,000 from private donors over the next three years, or the remainder of President Donald Trump’s term in the White House. Trump’s administration has rolled back protections for transgender Americans and sought to crack down on gender-affirming care and end federal recognition of gender identities separate from biological sex.
