The Trump administration is trying to impose immigration-related conditions on states to receive Victims of Crime Act funds.

It’s a move aligned with Attorney General Pam Bondi’s policy that so-called “sanctuary jurisdictions” should not receive federal funds if they don’t cooperate with ICE.

Neronha said that in fiscal year 2024, 41,000 Rhode Islanders – or nearly 5% of the population – were assisted by the funds.
