Rookie defensive end Ahmed Hassanein is out indefinitely with a pectoral injury he suffered in last week's preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions coach said Dan Campbell said it's not clear yet if Hassanein has a chance to return this season.
"That’s a good question," Campbell said. "I don’t have that answer yet."
Hassanein, a sixth-round pick out of Boise State, was injured early in the third quarter Saturday when he was blocked to the ground on a running play.
He clutched at his right chest as he laid on the ground before being tended to by trainers, and went straight to the locker room when he left the field.
Hassanein was expected to play a depth role this fall for a defensive line that already has dealt with its share of injuries. Need a break? Play the USA
