AUBURN — The backup quarterback spot on Auburn football 's latest roster may not be a one or the other situation. As Hugh Freeze said Monday, he sees "a place for both" Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels and freshman Deuce Knight in the role.

"Without giving away too much, I think there's a place for both of those guys that you can play to their strengths," Freeze said. "We won't be afraid to do that."

Auburn 's starting quarterback has been effectively set in stone since the program added Jackson Arnold , a former consensus five-star prospect and Oklahoma starting quarterback, in the transfer portal. But the answer surrounding who Arnold's presumptive backup will be has been much more murky.
