AUSTIN, Texas (KETK) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced that Monday marks the beginning of new Texas driver's license and identification card designs with more security features.

According to the department, starting on Monday, all newly issued driver's licenses and identification cards will sport a "new look" that also comes with an increase in security features.

The new cards are made with tamper-resistant polycarbonate material, which can be difficult to replicate, according to Texas DPS. The material is also compliant with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). One new feature includes a black star instead of a gold star that is laser-engraved into the upper right corner of the cards.
