OBERLIN, La. (KPLC) - After concerns were raised about low roster numbers , Oberlin High School now has enough players to move forward with the upcoming varsity football season, school officials said.

The school was originally entering this season with only 15 varsity players, and was at risk of missing the season. To discuss a possible solution, school officials invited players, parents, and die-hard fans to a meeting on Aug. 17.

Since that meeting, four new players have signed onto the team, meaning the varsity squad now has a total of 19 players. Now, the school will proceed with the players they have for the upcoming season.

With only 19 varsity players to take the field, each game brings safety concerns.
