MINOT — Recently, during an appearance on a regional talk radio show, Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner described the verbal abuse law enforcement officers have been taking in Fargo.

“Just myself alone, I think I was called an ‘(expletive) pig’ three different times,” Jahner said, referring to a nighttime shift he and some of his deputies participated in alongside the Fargo Police Department. “That was very light compared to what some of the other officers were experiencing with the constant statements like that towards them and flipping them off and things like that.”

According to Jahner, this hostility is a relatively new phenomenon. “I’ve never really seen that before,” he said. “That was really eye-opening for me.”
