HOUSTON (KIAH) — A man was killed when his pickup truck crashed into a ditch in southwest Houston on Monday morning.

The crash happened around 6:25 a.m. Monday at the 5500 block of North Braeswood Boulevard, police said. A white Ford pickup truck was found in the ditch by police. A 27-year-old man was found dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation discovered that the truck was going eastbound at a high rate of speed and veered off the road and hit a light pole and the edge of the bridge rail, causing it to flip across the ravine and stopped in the shallow water.

HPD said that the investigation into the crash is continuing.
