ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – Florida authorities said the driver of a semi-truck involved in a crash which left three people dead last week has been arrested.
Florida State Troopers responded to the crash on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Troopers said the crash involved a minivan and semi-truck and trailer.
After an initial investigation, officials determined the crash was caused by the driver of the semi-truck after he attempted to “recklessly” and without regard for the safety of others, make a U-turn near mile marker 170 in an “Official Use Only” area.
The semi-truck then crossed in front of a Chrysler minivan, resulting in the collision.
The crash resulted in the deaths of three people, according to officials.
