AUSTIN, Texas — On Monday, several House Democrats returned to Texas for the second special legislative session. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called for the second special session to start just hours after the first one concluded on Friday. The main item on the agenda is still redistricting, which is expected to pass this time around.

Several Democrats are expected to be on the House floor for the first time in two weeks. House Speaker Dustin Burrows said on Saturday he anticipates having a quorum in his chamber on Monday.

A group of Texas House Democrats have been staying in suburban Chicago for nearly two weeks to block Republican plans to redraw the Texas congressional map before next year's midterm election.
