WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A teen has been formally charged in a crash that killed a Wichita boy last week.

Gauge Brasher, 19, made his first appearance in Sedgwick County Court on Monday. He was charged with second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond was set at $500,000.

The crash occurred on Wednesday near the intersection of Harry and Rock Road. Wichita police said a BMW was traveling at an excessive speed. The car hit a power pole and utility box, sending both into Jackson Nzabonimpa as he stood on the sidewalk. He died at the scene. Brasher was arrested on Friday in the 3100 block of E. Range Road.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for the funeral expenses for Nzabonimpa.
