An order warning residents not to consume tap water from the city’s water system is now lifted in all parts of Butte, though a health advisory remains for the elderly, infants and those with severely compromised immune systems.

People from one section of east Butte who fall into those categories are asked to consult with their health care providers before drinking city water, pending more tests of that water.

But test samples have shown that everyone else in Butte-Silver Bow is in the clear.

“I am pleased to report there were no contaminants or exceedances found in any of those samples,” J.P. Gallagher, Butte-Silver Bow’s chief executive, said at a Monday afternoon news conference at the courthouse.
