ROCHESTER, Minn. — Andrianna Newburn was sentenced Monday for assaulting a small child, according to Olmsted County Attorney Michael Walters. Newburn faced seven criminal counts, with first-degree assault being the most severe charge.
The Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines set a maximum sentence of 117 months for this crime. Walters' office recommended this full term due to the vulnerability of the infant victim. However, Newburn requested a sentence between 84 and 98 months.
The court decided on a 98-month sentence, which is about 8 years and two months. Walters expressed gratitude to the victim’s family for their patience and commended lead trial attorneys Allison Freese and Joseph Rosholt for their efforts in the case.
