WEST VALLEY CITY — A man police say is not allowed to possess a gun was charged Monday with shooting another man.
Jason Everette Handy, 38, is charged in 3rd District Court with firing a gun and causing injury, a second-degree felony; being a restricted person in possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony; and violating a protective order, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 1, a 41-year-old man went to a residence in the area of 2000 West and 3600 South looking for his ex-girlfriend. The man found the ex's roommate in the garage and got into an argument with her, charging documents state.
The man shoved the woman into the garage door and then started arguing with Handy, who also lives at the residence, according to the charges.
