Crews spent Friday installing new floating docks at Hix Bridge Landing, as town officials enter a new phase in a two-plus year effort to get a major rebuilding project off the ground.

The floats, paid for entirely with grant money, were put in on very short notice, Westport Landing Commission chairman Jeff Bull said, adding that Brendan Lund and his crew from Borden Light Marine Contracting “delivered an extraordinary product ahead of schedule.”

With new floats in, a long-running plan to rehabilitate the landing is moving forward.

Members of the planning board last Tuesday approved of the landing commission’s plans to improve and update the landing, a project that is expected to cost $800,000 or more.
