PLAINS, Ga. (WALB) - August 18, 2025 would have marked First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s 98th birthday. Even in her absence, the South Georgia community celebrated the first lady alongside the National First Ladies Day Commission and the Society of Presidential Descendants in Plains on Monday.
To honor and remember Mrs. Carter, the First Ladies Day Commission and the Society of Presidential Descendants hosted a wreath-laying ceremony at the Carter Gardens on Monday at 10 a.m. Several descendants of former presidents were reportedly in attendance at the public event.
