VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - A 16-year-old was taken into custody following an armed robbery at a Circle K gas station late Friday, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

Since then, the teen has been charged with armed robbery, VPD wrote in a press release Monday.

The incident transpired just before midnight, after several Valdosta police officers and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Circle K gas station, located on North St. Augustine Road, the press release wrote.

Police say the clerk called 911 to report “an armed robbery to the business.” The clerk told officers that the offender, later identified as a 16-year-old, had “a rifle-style firearm,” according to the police department.
