Alberta picked up a pair of historic medals as Week 1 of the Canada Summer Games in St. John's, Newfoundland, wrapped up.
On the basketball court, Alberta won gold in both the men's and women's divisions. The Women’s team successfully defended their 2022 gold medal, defeating Team Ontario 62-54.
On the men’s side, Team Alberta made history with a thrilling 72-69 victory over Ontario, capturing the province’s first-ever gold in men’s basketball at the Canada Summer Games.
Alberta also won silver in women's box lacrosse and silver in men's soccer.
Red Deer's Madi Hunter and Kamryn Lane helped Team Alberta to a bronze medal in women's softball.
Men’s Baseball ended on a high note, securing 5th place with a 4-0 win over Manitoba. Lacombe's Zach MacDonald, along with Red Deer's Daril Rodri
